 1.  I chose to look at the first grade ELA technology standards. One of the standards involves knowing how to use a variety of text features to locate important information throughout a text. Based on my current skill set, I do feel prepared to implement this standard. I feel comfortable working with basic applications and I how to use it in an efficient manner. By creating structures within text, such as glossaries or table of contents, you facilitate your students ability to process information and follow along. 2. I chose to look at the first grade lesson plan. In the lesson plan resource tab, there are many activities to incorporate and use in the classroom. I think this is an essential resource for teaching because it provides you with some sense of structure and helps you find ways to implement the learning objective into activities that the students will enjoy. You have plenty of options to explore and build off of. Each lesson plan has a tutorial to follow and learn f...

  1.  Copyright is a form of protection for an individuals work, it gives them exclusive rights to distribute it and ensures that they will receive proper credit when others use it. As a teacher, I would make sure to teach my students about copyright laws and fair use. When creating my own materials I would make sure to use public resources and properly attribute any content I get from a third-party. For students, I would encourage them to use original ideas and teach them how to properly cite other's work. I have always been aware of copyright laws and fair use, as I have always been taught about plagiarism and how to avoid it.  2.  While technology is a great tool to have and can be very beneficial to both teachers and students, it is important to acknowledge technology implementation issues that may arise. One issue is that of student's privacy. It is important to protect student's information and academic records. One solution to this issue could be to implement ...

I have been using MS Word in school for quite sometime. I believe it was in high school where I had to get DIT certified and we learned a lot about the software. I never had a problem using it, I found it quite easy to learn your way around. However, for some reason I tend to gravitate more towards Google docs. I think my grade school teachers pushed us to use Google docs for a lot of assignments and it just kind of stuck. While MS Word is easy to navigate, I think Google docs might be easier and has some features that MS word lacks.  After browsing through the ISTE Standards for Educators, I think the standard most meaningful to me is 2.1 Learner. I think learning is never ending, there are always opportunities to gain or strengthen your knowledge. I think it is important for educators to learn about new practices and acquire knowledge and experience from others to apply to their own classrooms. It is good to get involved in PLNs as it is a great way to make c...

9/5/2024      I am taking this class as part of my education minor requirements. This is my first semester taking any education classes, and I am excited to learn more about the field. From this class specifically, I hope to learn about different technological tools that I can implement in the classroom. I want to learn how to use them to my advantage and create collaborative projects for my students.       Prior to this class, I already had a pretty good background with technology. Technology has been used in the classroom since I was in elementary school. Computer labs, chrome-books, smart boards; I always had some sort of technology to rely on in school. I think technology can make it easier to complete certain work and access important information. When used correctly, it is a great learning tool.      As a psychology major, I like to learn about the study of the human brain behavior. There are many tools offered at FSU that support ...
